Document checklist

Have these ready before you start — incomplete files are the main reason disbursements slip past a fee deadline.

  • Admission letter or provisional offer from the institution
  • Fee structure on institutional letterhead
  • Class 10, 12 and degree marksheets
  • Entrance test scorecard (JEE / NEET / CAT / GRE / IELTS)
  • Co-applicant income proof and bank statements for six months
  • KYC documents and, for study abroad, a valid passport

Section 80E tax deduction

The entire interest paid on an education loan is deductible from taxable income for up to eight years, with no upper limit on the amount. The deduction is available to the borrower or the co-applicant who pays the interest.
